My research uncovers social network discrimination: opportunity flows through relationships, and minorities receive systematically fewer connections simply because their social group is smaller.
Todaydream is the response.
We connect students from underrepresented backgrounds with diverse, inspiring professionals who share their journeys and expand their sense of what is possible.
TODAYDREAM®
Empowers the next generation by connecting youth with diverse, inspiring professionals—DreAmbassadors.
Through interactive sessions, DreAmbassadors share personal journeys and lessons learned, serving as relatable role models in STEM, law, business, the arts, and more.
By showing students how others have overcome similar challenges, we inspire resilience and help them envision and achieve their dreams.
We're also building ProVision® — a community for the DreAmbassadors who power this work. Because those who pour into others need support and fellowship too.
THE VIRTUOUS CYCLE
My research on social network discrimination emerged from experiences working with Chicago Public Schools students facing limited networks.
That research now directly informs Todaydream's design—deliberately creating cross-network connections that research shows expand opportunity.
Building Todaydream generates new questions about what conditions promote equal opportunity and advance justice.
Better research generates better practice. Better practice generates better research.
